Celebrating NDP on 9 Aug 2014 with fellow Singaporeans

This year, my family and I had the opportunity to attend the National Day Parade at The Floating Platform. We reached Promenade MRT Station at around 3.15pm and by time we walked to the Green zone queue entry area, it was around 3.30 pm.

We queued for 30 mins under the hot scorching sun. Finally, the gate opened at 4 pm and we could finally entered. Tight security check - drinks that we brought into the premises, we had to drink in front of the officer and proved to them it's water.

After these check, we finally entered the float area and collected our goodie bags.

We were early so we ate some food we brought like the rice dumplings, baos  and so on. My dad had cooked water chestnut herbal tea because he thought the weather's hot

The performance started at around 5.15 pm.

This marks the end our NDP celebration 2014.

We left the float at around 8.20 pm. We were all hungry and tired from the walk to Raffles Place Mrt station. After we reached Ang Mo Kio, we went to our favourite zichar stall and ordered a $8 horfun and 3 cans of soft drinks. We reached home at around 10.45 pm.

UFamily Baby's Day Out - The Promontory @ Marina Bay (2 Aug 14)

Hiap Aik registered 5 tickets for UFamily Baby's Day Out event. It's an outdoor event held at The Promontory. Since it's NDP last preview day, we might be lucky enough to catch the fighter plane and fireworks in the sky. We reached the area at 5.30 pm. There's already a huge crowd queuing for the goodie bags.

The kids and I entered the area first while Hiap Aik queued up for the goodie bag. We went to the game booths first. The games did not required any coupons so Isaac and Imax went to play there. They had a lot of fun.

It's been more than 30 mins and Hiap Aik was still not inside. Therefore, we found an area where we could place our picnic mat and sit down.

A lot of families came in red and white - in the mood of NDP celebration. There's balloon sculpture and face-painting stalls but we didn't let the children queue up. We managed to catch the plane carrying our national flag and the red lions performance when they jumped down from the sky.

We had made some food so we enjoyed our dinner under the sky. Ivory enjoyed herself but she was afraid of the F-16 fighter planes sound that she clung on me tightly like a koala.

Mr Lim Swee Say also attended the event. He is on stage singing the national day songs with us.

Christmas atmosphere at Orchard Road....2013

This blog is supposed to go out last year but I only had time to finish part 1. Therefore, I will publish this first.

Part 1
Ho ho ho! It's the end of the year. Everyone's in festive & holiday mood. It's my family tradition to go down to orchard road to see the beautiful lightings and experience the christmas atmosphere. We took a train to Orchard Road and from there, we walked to Dhoby Ghaut station. First stop, we went to Takashimaya to buy presents for the children. My mum gave me $50 to buy presents for them. We let the children chose their own toys.

Next, we walked out of Ngee Ann City. We saw street acrobatic performance outside the building.

This photo was taken outside Mandarin Gallery. Imax gave me a very sweet smile while Isaac gave me a funny look.

My angry Ivory. She didn't like it when we neglected her. An attention seeker.

We walked towards Orchard Central direction. Some nice decorations outside the mall.

By 9 pm, Ivory had fallen asleep on her stroller. We were crossing the road over to Centrepoint.

All the cheeky Imax poses below. He loves taking photos, unlike his brother.

Christmas dinner, cakes and presents. These are the things the children look forward to. We continue our walk to Dhoby Ghaut MRT stn. We ate supper at Long John Silver before heading home.

Part 2

It's christmas eve. I'm on half day so we decided to go Orchard Road again. It was 3 pm when we reached there. We walk from Orchard MRT stn towards the Tanglin Mall direction.

Tanglin Mall was so crowded on the eve. We could see a lot of expats and their family. There was even a photo taking session with a santa claus inside the mall.

This was the christmas decorations outside Tanglin Mall.

Part 3

It's christmas. The children had been asking if they could opened their presents. I told them they could do so after dinner. My plan for christmas day was to have our own christmas feast. I had already bought ingredients to make pizza. The children were pretty excited...DIY pizza. After lunch, I went to NTUC to collect the pork knuckle and christmas log cake. At around 5 pm, we starting making our own pizzas. Ivory were too hungry so we fed her her porridge first.

Our DIY pizzas below. Imax was so greedy. He put so much ingredients on his pizza...therefore his pizza took the longest to bake.
