On the 2nd last day of our trip, we brought the kids to Taipei Zoo. They saw pandas, koalas and many other animals there. The entry fee to the zoo were cheap. Our family of five costs a total of about $10 SING to enter the zoo.

We visited Taipei Main station to buy the famous Li Yi Sun biskits & XinGuangSanYue (which is their Sogo) to have dinner.

Travel diary - (Day 8) Yangmingshan-Liu Huang Valley-Danshui-Shilin

On day 8 of our trp, we went to Yangmingshan. Yangmingshan's original name was Caoshan (Grass Mountain in Mandarin), referring to the tall silvergrass that covers the highest slopes. Chiang Kai-shek renamed it Mount Yangming after his favorite Ming philosopher Wang Yang-ming (A.D. 1472-1529).

Initially, we wanted to go to Xiao You Keng (小油坑). But some aunties whom we met at the bus stop said it's not convenient if we were bringing 3 kids along. And the area did not have platform for stroller to move around. They suggested that we went to Liu Huang Valley instead, which was similar to Xiao You Keng. They even told us where to wait for the bus. Taiwanese are really very friendly. We really appreciate their help while we were there.

Onboard small bus #9.

We reached Liu Huang Valley.

Next, we went to New Beitou area.

We had lunch at a meatball noodle place.

We ate beancurd desset at the shop next door after that.

After the soya beancurd dessert, we proceed to take the train to Tamshui.

At Tamshui, we took a bus to the lover's bridge.

Walking to Tamshui Old Street

After Tamshui, we took the train to Shilin Night Market. Here, we ate a variety of street food. Our favourite is "QiLiXiang" which means chicken backside.
