A trip to Art Science Museum - Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb (27 Sep 2013)

My husband and I took leave to visit the ArtScience Museum on 27 Sep 2013 (Fri). We are going for the Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb exhibition. It's been a year since I last visited ArtScience Museum. The last exhibition that I visited was Titanic.

Both of us are fans of Ancient Egypt. We are facinated by their colorful history and myths. We always record the episodes on Ancient Egypt from National Geographic and Discovery channel.

The exhibition features more than 100 artefacts and six mummies from the British Museum. A highlight is a 3-D film that captures the virtual unwrapping of Nesperennub (a 3,000-year old mummy of Egyptian temple priest), based on using cutting-edge scanning technology, which produced sharper images of the body under the coffin and layers of wrapping. This 3-D film will reveal the life and death of Nesperennub, which is the focus of the exhibition.

To complement Nesperennub's story, artefacts like ritual temple vessels and offering tables are included to reflect aspects of the life of a priest in those times. There is also a mummy of Tjayasetimu, a singer in the temple of the Egyptian god, Amun. Other exhibits such as statuettes of the Egyptian gods Amun-Ra and Seth explain the religious beliefs of ancient Egyptian funerary practices.

Some photos to share below.

Overall, the exhibition is interesting. I learn a lot from this exhibition. Will be looking forward to go Eygpt if I have the chance.
